About Us

Established by Dr. Glen W. Simons in 2001, Kentucky Vein Care is the first facility dedicated exclusively to the treatment of venous disease in Kentucky.

Because everyone is unique, treatments are customized for the individual to provide optimal results, both medically and cosmetically. Often, a combination of treatment methods are used–typically ultrasound evaluation, sclerotherapy, ultrasound guided sclerotherapy, and/or endovenous laser ablation. Dr. Simons and his staff have received national recognition for their expertise and often train other physicians in the art of venous disorder treatment.

Kentucky Vein Care is now conveniently located off of Harrodsburg Road, across from Beaumont Center. 

Meet the team

Glen W. Simons, MD

Glen W. Simons, MD, is a general and vascular surgeon. After graduating from Brigham Young University, he attended University of Utah School of Medicine. He completed surgical training at Baylor College of Medicine Affiliated Hospitals in Houston, Texas, Emmanuel Hospital and Health Clinic in Portland, Oregon and Medical College of Ohio in Toledo, Ohio. Certified by the American Board of Surgery in 1996, Dr. Simons now specializes in venous disorders and is one of the nation’s foremost specialists and trainers.

Jane K. Simons, RN

Jane K. Simons, RN, received her nursing degree from Algonquin College in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. She has extensive experience in critical care and surgical nursing. She has focused on the venous system and venous disease since becoming patient care coordinator for Kentucky Vein Care in 2001.

Melissa Nolan, MBA

Melissa recently accepted the position as the new Patient Coordinator with Kentucky Vein Care. She comes to the office following managerial and marketing stints in the ecommerce and Thoroughbred industries. A Lexington resident for many years, Melissa is a graduate of Sayre School, the University of Kentucky and Midway University. At UK Melissa earned her undergraduate degree in Economics and then furthered her education at Midway University where she graduated from its Executive M.B.A. program in 2011. Melissa lives in Lexington with her fiancé Patrick, a local attorney, and their adopted Greyhound Cosmic.
